The following post found on Motley Fool may be of interest. Exerpt from Businesswire Globastar Article dated 4/24/98. Ericsson OMC Ltd. has signed a technology license agreement with QUALCOMM Incorporated, that allows Ericcson to design, develop, manufacture and sell handsets for use within the Globalstar worldwide mobile satellite digital telephone system. Ericcson has also been subcontracted to design and manufacture dual- mode pre-production Globalstar handsets incorporating QUALCOMM's Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) technology and Ericcson's Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) terrestrial-based technology and expertise.
