Another way this is sometimes done, although more often in the UK, is a rights offering. Under this scenario, shareholders are granted the right to purchase stock in proportion to their shareholdings in the company.

A rights offering can get complicated. Given our IPO market, it is more likely that SEG would pursue that approach if they wanted to bring cash into the parent.
