My reservations on this company just went sky high today as I decided to take a look at the corporate offices of the company in downtown Seattle.

It was a VERY NICE office on the top floor (47th) of one of Seattle's highest priced commercial properties. In fact the view of Puget Sound and the snow covered Olympic Mountain chain as you walked in the front door was unimpedied except for the receptionist's desk. The only indication of the company was a frosted etched glass logo (not all that visible BTW) on the glass wall between the receptionist and the main conference room (??) which had the excellent view you could admire from the reception area. (Didn't get further that there because all I had was my curiosity. I did leave my name so they could send me an investor package. After I review it some, I might go back.)

Now, I'm not an expert in real estate not internet site hosting but I'm pretty sure of two things:
1) Their offices are EXPENSIVE!
2) Expensive offices are not needed to host internet sites (which exist only on computers).

While it is possible that the office lease is not a material expense on the company, I doubt it. Instead it is an indication that profits (or at least minimizing losses) is currently far from the minds of management. Putting in cost control mentality now is the best way to prevent run away expenses later when the investors are more unforgiving of earnings stumbles.

OB

GNET, like AMZN...

2-1 split, 3 internet acquisitions, DLJ initiates coverage...(all in last 24 hours...)

...this is the only way critical mass will be achieved for a company like GNET.
