Rocky Mountain Internet Signs Agreement with Frontier Corp. to Provide Long Distance Service ROCHESTER, N.Y. and DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 27, 1998-- Deal allows RMI to deliver long distance services to all U.S. calling areas Frontier Corporation (NYSE:FRO) and Rocky Mountain Internet (NASDAQ: RMII) announced today that the companies have entered into an agreement allowing RMI to offer traditional long distance services to customers nationwide utilizing Frontier's IP-capable SONET network. Under the three-year carrier services agreement, RMI will expand its service offerings to include 1-plus long distance, calling card, audio conferencing, and inbound/outbound toll-free services. Consistent with previous announcements from Rocky Mountain Internet, the new service offerings will complement RMI's Internet service and help the company quickly mature into a full service, national telecommunications company. RMI's CEO Doug Hanson said, "these new services allow us to effectively compete with any telecommunications provider today, and put Rocky Mountain Internet far ahead of the other ISPs in its class." The services will be carried on Frontier's SONET fiber optic network which consists of superior electronics including frame relay/IP capabilities and integrated local/long distance DMS-500 switches. Already carrying both data and voice traffic, Frontier's network affords unparalleled transmission speeds, unlimited capacity and unrivaled reliability. "The build-out of our SONET network, in addition to our quality products and services, positions Frontier to serve the myriad of players in the telecommunications marketplace," stated Frontier Carrier Services President Anthony J. Cassara. All of RMI's telephony services will be sold under a recently formed subsidiary, Rocky Mountain Broadband. RMI announced the formation of Rocky Mountain Broadband last month after filing for Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) status in Colorado. Upon approval by the Colorado Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), Rocky Mountain Broadband will begin providing local exchange services in Colorado, including private line services, switched and dedicated access service, intraLATA toll, and advanced features.
