This is a small acquisition for Lucent and will not impact Ascend Ricky, I agree with this statement. And it seems to be reflected in the market today as well considering ASND holding up nicely. In order to become a player quickly in the data networking market, I feel LU should have stepped up with a more substantive acquisition like ASND (way back when they bought Livingston). ASND could have been had much cheaper then, but I guess their finance guys couldn't see past a bad quarter or two. They obviously feel that buying non-market leading products will be ok, given their marketing and sales muscle. This remains to be seen.
