you said:

"Numerous academic economists have published on the short-term unpredictability of financial markets. Trying to do otherwise
is a fool's game. "

That's why these people are academics and traders like Raschcke, V.Sperandeo, R.Driehaus etc. etc. make millions of dollars based on short term stock price predictions models. They all think that the random walk theory of the academic economists is simply wrong. I just refer this since i'm not in the position to support it with own material. You can read about it in "Market Wizards" by Jack Schwager.

P.S. I forgot to mention that these supertraders are of course a very small minority and that the average traders like us probably can't predict these prices. But it is possible otherwise these traders wouldn't beat averages by a wide margin year after year...

David, I agree with what you said except: "LGND isn't going anywhere until it starts to post profits from products that reach the market."

The market often anticipates good things (and bad), thus moving up before the news is out. We have seen this a few times with LGND already. As to an example with no earnings, check out the past 2-3 years on SEPR. No earnings yet but the stock has moved up smartly. I believe LGND will move up well in advance of a sustained earnings trend.

Regards,

Walter
