Could be, but eyes are focused on the fall, when LU's spin-off terms are relaxed. 1 Billion was quite a price for a company I saw featured in Entrepreneur Mag less than a year ago. Makes me wonder...

[slightly offtopic] - i don't own ASND anymore, but i don't think Livingston or YURI competes with ASND, especially in the RBOC space. Besides, CSCO's Stratacom hiccup should benefit ASND. Since BAY is a YURI reseller, the present development may impact BAY slightly. Implicitly, it means there is no substantive conflict though - since it doesn't make sense to be a reseller of one's competitor - in term of the competitive landscape; quite the contrary, if YURI has integrated BAY softwares into its products, there may be some beneficial effects.

While CSCO's crosshair is trained toward BAY, it seems that LU's crosshair is towards CSCO.

Alluded to AF's post yesterday, I am not surprise if CPQ is trying to get a larger piece of the networking pie. Her acquisitions of Tandem and DEC demonstrates her appetite for installed base and *beta wolves* [as opposed to *alpha*.] Imho, I ve reservation about the response post to AF's about INTC-CPQ-BAY primarily b/c of the reasonableness of a INTC-CPQ [INTC/BAY or CPQ/BAY are indeed possible.] It doesn't make sense, from the regulatory perspective or from the business POV. Of course, stranger things happen - so jmho
