Which tells you, Linda, that what Apple has to do is reduce
the price point for entry into the performance notebook market.
With the G3's, Apple can do this. I was disappointed in the
prereleased pricing info on upcoming models that none were
below $2K, although the lowest end would get there after the
first round of price reductions perhaps.

<<So if that guy was going to include the Mac in his "thinking" he would know we've already got everythig he could want. >>

Yes, and without the huge heat sink and the noisy cooling fan.

I wonder how much battery life you lose due to that big cooling fan and the wasted heat energy. Added weight?

When the studies show that people are more productive on a Mac are they counting the added battery life that you can work on a Powerbook without recharging? You literally can do more on a Mac! How novel!

What's the failure rate on Wintel laptops due to fan failure and CPU meltdown? How often do you have to clean all the smut out of the fan filters and does it require a well-paid tech?

If the bulk of my job were portable word processing, spreadhseets, and presentations that would integrate MS Office with the office PC, I would go with a powerbook for the aforementioned benefits plus the sizzling speed and snazzy good looks. Price/performance is also better.

Questions, questions.....
