Yes John it still holds true. But I have found, over my career, that when a bear market does occur, I always wished I would have sold at least part of my holdings. Also, the fact that stocks go down about twice as fast as they go up, is always painful when after holding a stock patiently for 9 months to 1 year only to lose the entire gain in 1 or two weeks changed my opinion and strategies. Especially in small cap stocks where profit can evaporate overnite.
