>>1. If box makers won't use Sony because it, a competitor box maker, stands to profit, why doesn't that argument apply to NEC clik! and (are they licensed for Zip drives)?<<

Because this argument is basic bull-crap. The LS-120 is already being included in a number of laptops by computer companies that stand in direct competition with the makers of LS-120 Superdisk, who also make computers.

>>2. If the channel checks concerning Sparq are accurate, the external version moves and the internal version sits. If that's the case, why should internal Zip move any better with non-techies?<<

Good observation. The external units do not involve taking the case off a computer and installing it. The ATAPI Zip is such a device that will sit on shelves because most users are not familiar with taking a plastic case off a computer to do anything. This should serve as a warning to those banking on non-techie types all of a sudden "coming around," and adopting certain technologies en masse. Vapor! is such a technology that will sell at first to a few techies and Iomega investors, then...nothing.

Because the internal zip are adopted by mom and pop shops installing something that people are asking for.....i see the ingram numbers and see the atapi internals fly off the shelf......i am yet to see a box maker or 3rd teir maker include a "built in sparq".....no acceptance, they are selling the externals (and that has slowed way down from my ingram numbers..mainly because of supply)to people who just look at price, and nothing more...
