Mike:

I love the anonymity of the web. Now I have got you, an M.D., a JD and perhaps a DJ and an MJ (Masters and Johnson???), thinking I am an engineer and a literate one at that.

Well it actually gets worse. I took a grand total of 1 class in English during college. Hated it. I graduated with Math and Physics degrees and a propensity for arguing in Greek symbols. The motto was the more convoluted you make the symbols the less you need to know the English language. I took no more than that 1 class in English as any "non-science" classes. HA! See what the new MSFT WORD can do to us illiterates.

Now for the alter ego thingie - I like the DVD push - those guys are right the gen 2 stuff is the real deal.

Simple rule of acceptance of new product lines: (1) must replace something and be useful (2) must pass magic price point. DVD aces both. However I did mention that it might not be LSI that benefits most from the PC DVD thing. LSI is likely quite strong here and maybe indirectly as well (MPEG-2 - a real engineer can expose my lack of knowledge here), I think the bulk of their hoospah is in consumer DVD.

Anyway the product cycle is entering its sharply accelerating point on the S-curve and LSI is shipping in volume.

So sit back - hope the market does not go to crap and enjoy.

Shane.
