Motorola Voice-Over-IP Technology To Link Net Communications Inc. Global Network Motorola Internet Products Operation (IPO)

Net Communications Inc. (NCI), a private, next-generation telecommunications company, and Motorola, Inc.'s Internet Products Operation announced today Motorola will be the primary provider of turnkey IP (Internet protocol) telephony equipment for NCI's expanding Global Multi Media Network (GMN)(TM).
In growing its network to 15 countries over the next 12 months, NCI will deploy Motorola's VIPR family of IP telephony gateways to interconnect to existing telephone networks. Motorola also will provide software to support an array of value-added services, like pre-paid calling cards and fax, and will install, support, maintain and manage the network. Contract terms were not disclosed.

Specifically for the Net Communications Global Multi Media Network, Motorola IPO will provide:
-- Carrier-grade Internet telephony gateways for compatible interconnection to and comparable voice quality of the existing public switched telephone network (PSTN), with efficient call processing across intranet connections; -- Carrier-focused applications software to support value-added services such as pre-paid calling cards, debit cards, major credit cards and Web-based account management, plus and billing mechanisms; and -- Multi-national installation, technical support, maintenance and network management services. Motorola's VIPR line is part of the Vanguard(R) and MPRouter(R) family of network access devices which provide an advanced multi-service platform and support of IP telephony, frame relay, ISDN, LAN routing, legacy, data protocols, WAN bandwidth optimization and support for either digital or analog PBX/PABX features. Motorola VIPR products are DSP-based and offer built-in echo cancellation, silence suppression, SNMP management and super scalability from single analog to multiple T-1, E-1 and PRI digital connections. Advanced voice and fax priority protocols ensure maximum quality of service.
