"Maybe my little stint in SE Asia in the 60s as a spec forces sgt makes me think a little different"

Well said!, what some of these people around here need is a little perspective of many things in the past that have been a lot worse than Y2K could ever be. I think of my Uncles who served in WWII as one example, or my Grandparents in the depression, who had a job during that time by the way, or my Great Grandmother who came here from Germany when she was 16 after both her parents died.

It makes me sick to see all of the people here thinking the end of the world is coming, I figure they have no backbone at all.

John:

Well different strokes for different folks. I tend to think in similar terms as yourself. I guess it's no different than some built special bomb shelters back in the 50's and 60's, others practiced air raids drills and a lot of people did nothing but depend on the government to make sure it didn't happen.

Like I said about generators was 10 year old info. I don't even remember Honda being in that market back then.

I like your idea of taking vacation then although I just work for myself doing this at home (I just sold my last rental property)...this being equities trading. That brings to mind your statement "what if the market closes for a week?..a month? Now that would be a real personal disaster. My wife would probably make me go out and get a real job. Sh*t!<GGG>
