Hi Ellis,

<Is it possible that WCII bought the small piece of ARTT as a defensive measure - preventing their valuable assets from falling into another competitor's hands??? >

I just can't see it. Doesn't make sense yet. If AT&T wants to buy ARTT, how can WinStar with 15% stop them? Elect somebody to the BOD? But then they have to act in the best interest of the other ARTT shareholders. It seems too strange owning a portion of your competition. They have to either tender for the rest, or announce some sort of partnership or network sharing or ???

Does anybody know if this was a negotiated deal between WCII and ARTT? Or is WinStar coming out of the blue with this and blindsided ARTT? It is strange there was no announcement from ARTT regarding this today. Looks like just WinStar's release. I wonder if a deal couldn't get worked out, so WinStar is going to buy the 15% and then do a hostile tender offer for the rest. Just a guess. ARTT must not be happy with it or wouldn't they have come out with a positive spin release today? Their silence and the vagueness of the WinStar release says something.

I wonder if it is a hostile position, if WinStar can demand a piece of the company in exchange for their 15% back. Maybe take their European licensees? Or some other markets they're light in? Again, just guesses.

Anybody else closer to ARTT and have any thoughts? I get the feeling this isn't something ARTT wants. Any ideas?
