Company Press Release

--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

What: Access to data over a network has traditionally been slow,
constricted not only by low bandwidth but also high server
congestion. At this year's N+I, Quantum Corporation, a
storage-industry leader, will give its first demonstration of a
storage area network (SAN), a highly scaleable, high-throughput
architecture that eliminates the server bottleneck.

Quantum will demonstrate how the industry's most
comprehensive line of "SAN-ready" storage devices can work in a
full-functioning SAN environment. Products include the new
Quantum Atlas(TM) III and Quantum Viking(TM) II Ultra2 SCSI LVD
hard drives, and Quantum Rushmore(TM) solid state disks, as well
as Quantum DLTtape(TM) systems. All of these Quantum products
deliver the high capacities, high reliability, and fast,
predictable transfer rates needed to support a storage area
network.

Exhibit highlights include:

-- General-purpose and video streaming SANs based respectively on the Windows NT and Apple Mac OS operating systems.

-- The first SAN environment with an Ultra2 SCSI component: demonstrating how SCSI can be integrated into a Fibre Channel backbone.

-- The use of Quantum's DLT 7000-based tape library automation that leverages the Fibre Channel backbone.

-- Long distance (up to 20 kilometers) data access via SCSI switches.

Who: The demonstration tentatively features the following the
suppliers and products:

Suppliers and Products Quantum Products

Adaptec -- RAID controllers, Ultra2 Viking II Series Hard
SCSI and Fibre Channel host adapters, Drives
and Ultra SCSI differential host
adapters

Adobe -- Adobe Image Library Atlas III Series Hard
Driver

ATTO: Ultra2 SCSI host adapters Bigfoot Hard Drive
