It's great to know that someone as yourself is leading (AND staying with) BORL.

Surely today can be counted as a major turning point in the percievement of BORL and what it is about. I'm sure that Wednesday's presentation will be equally as successful.

Having owned a consulting/education organization (sold to ISLI 3 yrs ago tomorrow) people, allowing them room for creativity and leadership are the keys. BORL, as a software org., always has the object code in the draw, a consulting org has its people and unless they can be kept they will disappear. It's a GREAT org to have and it allow many benefits to be reaped.

I (and I'm sure most others) on the thread look forward to BORLAND's continued growth and profitability.

Thank you for your posts, obvious reassurances and leadership.

Michael

Del,

Thanks for returning to our thread. You've done a great job, and I believe this fact will be reflected in the value of our investment in the coming 12 to 24 months.

I posted a question to Denise last week, for you. If you are now out of your 'silent period', please explain, at least in general terms, what happened to Borland's revenue in Q2. How much was the old Borland, and how much was Visigenic. The figures seemed surprising low this time around, and I and others of us do not understand. Thanks for your reply.

Hey Mr. Y(J)ocam!

Nice of you to drop by. That would be a good explanation if ever I heard one. All our speculating (as usual) missed the essential point. Perhaps now that the word is beginning to get out the news media will be dropping the "ailing" / "thumped due to competition with MSFT" theme that is always present in either the WSJ or CBS or anyone else who has something to say about the company. My feeling is that the press is very much in la-la land and don't know anything about what is going on. I guess this is nothing more than a few quarters of solid revenue growth won't cure! :-)

Best of all if that is truly the reason the stock reacted so positively then we might indeed have a true breakout and not the rush of speculative testosterone going on here. Which would be a good thing.

On a more serious note: what happened to this quarter's earnings? I was not too concerned really since I figured you needed time to integrate VSGN into the fold. But when the speculative guys pushed up the stock last week who knew whether they were counting on an earnings surprise on yet again version 27 of the BORL takeover rumor? Ex-Japan is it the lag that usually comes with new product sales? Not to mention the new longer sales cycles?

And how many analysts showed up? Any of the big wigs?

And congrats on that Executive of the Year award. I was joking here about the appreciation of the shares of the other stocks whose CEOs had won the same award and hoping in the next few years we might be lucky enough to see the same with the new BORL.

Want to tip your hand on the name for the new BORL??? Coming 29 April 1998???

Long term (large %ge of Assets) BORL holder.

Good luck.

Shane.

Del,

This was our first "Financial Analyst Conference". We have talked
with "industry analyst" and "financial analyst" individually, but not
in an open public forum before now. Going forward, you'll see that we
will be participating in more venue's around the world.

Thanks for listening to our comments. 14% jump after first conference !
Not too bad. As I mentioned earlier, these analysts need your help to
be informed about BORL. Most of them are too busy to follow/research
any size company well because they have quotas to fill, sale calls and
etc. But they are the one with big moolas to move or kill the company
stock price. So it's like helping each other by scratching each other's back.

Welcome to the Wall Street. It was your Birthday as Future
Darling CEO of the Street.

regards,

InSook Prasad(as BPP, Bipin's partner)

Delbert,

Thank you for clearing up your future intent with Apple Computer, Inc.
WHEW!

Well today's traders gave you an A+ I guess they are no longer confused about the Q1 earnings, being a "Financial Analyst Conference" that says a lot! Equally as encouraging is the global growth participation. Wall St. loves a company that is "going forward"

18 months, 180 degrees and full steam ahead! In another year we'll be cruising on the high seas captain.

So how close did I come with the name change to VisiGenics International? Was it at least discussed or is the International only relevant part?

One more try, 'SoftNet Solutions' ?

I guess I will have to wait until Wednesday!

Respectifully,

TTOSBT

Mr. Yocam - Thanks for your TIMELY appearance on this thread and thanks for a well done job at Borland (I have been holding the stock long before you took the helm). The only thing that seems to be missing from this fairy tale, though, is some significant INSIDER'S BUYING. Such was the flag that signalled both IBM and CPU stocks real big turarounds. Sincerely... Ghassan.

Dear Mr Yocam.

Just as Borland and Apple Computers had or has a superior (and total package) product to Microsoft so may Borland/Inprise have to IBM or ORCL. But as you know Borland and Apple were both out marketed and out smarted by Microsoft.

Please do not let this happen to Inprise you seem to be marketing the server and middleware products (consulting and product) in a total package as Apple did back in the early 80's. This worked for awhile but look what happened.

If you would be so kind to explain to this thread -in layman terms, why you feel this strategy will not be out flanked again?

Here's hoping Inprise will be slapped with a FTC monopoly suit some day.

Thanks you,

TTOSBT
