jad,

BTW, where did you get those H&Q briefing comments? I would really like to know. Also, NOVL is now not only supporting its IPX (older Netware) operating system, but Netware 5.0 will be IP. Novell is pushing an open systems approach to networking software. So if you're outdated on developments of Novell, thats fine, just let us here know. I will pass your message onto ToySoldier, a more appropriate person to comment on your post.

Regards,

QuadK

jad:

BTW, Eric Schmidt does get it. And, to quote Eric, he said "the best way to predict the future is to invent it, and that's exactly what we are doing"

Here's an important link to the Schmidt's full annual meeting presentation last April. Scroll down, and read on.

Jad,

I know you basically quoted the person on the web site from this conference, but, whoever created these comments on Eric Schmidt's presentation doesnt know a hell of a lot about Novell and is not smart enough to actually listen to Dr. Schmidt.

If he would have stuck around and actually listened for once he would have realized that Novell is moving all future operating systems (starting with NetWare 5) to utilize NATIVE TCP/IP. When this is released, it will be the first of the competitive NOSs (including NT, OS/2, Banyan) to incorporate full and native TCP/IP. Not just a basic or proprietary protocol (like NetBios) running on top of the IP stack.

By doing this, NetWare will be miles ahead of its main competitor (NT) in TCP/IP integration into the NOS.

So dont quote and blindly agree with the statements of a person that clearly does not know what he is talking about and is too stupid to sit and listen to the message that the presenter was trying to convey.

As for Dr. Schmidt's presentation, I dont know who the audience was and what the objective of the presentation was, but I hope that Dr. Schmidt didn't speak at a wrong level to his audience. If people actually did leave the presentation, then I fear that he might have read his audience wrong.

Just my two cents!
