MacMall Revenue Reports. via MacCNN >Creative Computers (parent company of MacMall) reported record first-quarter revenue of $164.1 million, up 37% over net sales for the same quarter in 1997 and a net loss of $12.8 million. PC/Wintel sales increased 173% over the first quarter of last year, while Mac sales were down 22%; the company, however, notes optimism in Mac sales: "Although Macintosh sales were down 22% from the same quarter a year ago, a good portion of the decrease was due to the elimination of the major Macintosh clones (in addition to a drop of catalog circulation). Apple-brand sales only decreased 9% and subtracting Apple-brand imaging sales, a category that Apple exited in the second half of 1997, Apple sales were flat from Q1 1997 to Q1 1998. "'We are encouraged by Apple's reported results for the quarter and we plan to continue to leverage our position as the second largest Macintosh catalog company in the U.S... In Q1 the Macintosh G3 product line continued to sell well for us. Demand for Microsoft Office 98, which began shipping in Q1, was strong and Mac OS 8.1, Quark Express 4.0 and Norton Utilities for the Mac continued to sell well...."<

dobr; In the older system prior to automatic hard drive ID you had to enter the drive type, heads, cylinders etc to tell the system how to access the hard drive. Usually this is printed on the drive, if not get the model and make and go to their web site and get the parameters. The drive my well be an older MFM or RLL drive and not the more modern IDE or IDE-II now used by most PC's Once you have the parameters boot from a floppy and as the onscreen messages appear hit DEL, when it says hit delete to enter setup. Follow the instructions to move the cursor down the the hard drive line and use the pageup/down to get to your drive parameters. then escape and save and Yes ... enter and it will reboot. This setup also holds the key to your memory problems. Their will be other parameters and since my memory is vague on this perhaps you could get local help, but those parameters have to do the wait states etc and need to be set to meet the capabilities of your memory. If the memory will not work at all you will not ven get this far. Currently old 386's are mainly used for anchoring small craft in medium seas. What are old Macs good for?? Bill
