Reggie,

>>Windows can run over 10,000 over the counter, shrink wrapped applications natively, Linux cannot not.

Exactly what Windows application is required to access and use your web-site? Apparently because only a browser is required, that makes you a non-viable resource and the New Media game is all hype. I can dial into work from home and use Excel 5.0 through a boring X Windows program from yesteryear. How is that different than accessing a server over the Internet that runs Excel? If I could use a browser to run Excel, why would I need a "shrink-wrapped", maintain it myself, pain-in-the-ass software package at home? The future is not in standalone apps. What plans do you have for shrink-wrapping your web-site? Do you even understand or have used network-based software? Why do you think MSFT wants the browser monopoly so bad? Because Bill wants to give us this beautiful experience on Yahoo?

Once again I ask you what can Internet Explorer running on Windows offer me as an Internet access tool that Netscape on Linux cannot? What do you think the future of the Internet really is? Free Email? How is logging onto a spreadsheet server different than logging onto a stock trading program?

Of those 10,000 apps, how many could not be done effectively over the Internet with the browser as a client? How many could have parts successfully rewritten in Java for use on a browser?

I could own 10000 musical instruments but its much easier to turn the radio on and pick a station.

Cheers,

Norm
