WTDEC, OFF TOPIC, Re: How the chessmasters do it. They seem to have copied the methods of our investment bankers. Note that their fund custodian is Creditanstalt . Note also the fortuitous coincidence that after they take a 5% position in an illiquid stock," Then the Moscow branch of the Austrian Bank Creidtanstalt issued a buy recommendation on the firm, which helped lead to its being listed on the Russian Trading System." Take that, Bobby Fischer, Yankee dog!

Walter,

Thanks for up-loading that article. It was very interesting reading.

I have been told that there are studies that link investing and trading ability with a well developed ability to play complex games of skill (bridge, chess, poker, etc.) In fact, I have also been told, several prominent Wall Street firms actively recruit accomplished chessplayers for their trading departments, and offer _extreamely_ attractive compensation packages (before anyone gets excited: players weaker than International Master, alas, need not apply.)

If these stories are accurate, I would not bet against the Russia Growth Fund. In general, no one has gotten rich, as they say, betting against Kasparov.

Thanks again,
RB

The fund part is interesting alright. But playing chess against a computer or with the help of a computer just doesn't cut it. It is just too delightful to checkmate a human victim. The squirming and all that :-)

Cheers, Torben
