Amazon.com helps reignite Internet stocks =7

Last Tuesday another major broker, Merrill Lynch, started
coverage of four Internet search engine stocks: Lycos Inc.
<LCOS.O>. Yahoo!. Infoseek Corp. <SEEK.O> and Excite.
Today, Lycos was up 5-1/16 at 54-1/4. Yahoo! was up 3-3/4
at 115-7/8. Infoseek rose 2-3/8 to 32-3/4.
"We have seen a decoupling of Internet stocks from
technology stocks," Cook said. "Hopefully at some point they
stop the gathering process and start to show positive
earnings."
Cook said the leading holdings in Munder's Netnet include
Doubleclick, Lycos, CNet, Cisco Systems Inc. <CSCO.O> and
VeriSign Inc. <VRSN.O>. Cisco was up 4/16 at 70-11/16. VeriSign
gained 5/16 to 37-7/16.
Turner said he was accumulating positions in Amazon.com.
Excite, and RealNetworks Inc. <RNWK.O>. RealNetworks was up
1-11/16 at 32-13/16.
Other Internet related stocks also hitched a ride higher.
800 Travel Systems Inc. <IFLY.O> was up two at nine, after
hitting a new high of 10-3/8. The company is making a push to
expand business on the Internet in low-priced airline tickets.
