One of the more interesting aspects of the Lexar product claims is the fact that I have not seen any independent benchmark test. A faster write cycle could reduce or eliminate the need for on camera buffer RAM. Camera designers are also looking for power savings, as a faster write cycle would indicate. Battery size and pictures per charge, given other power drains such as imager, flash, and LCD usage are major considerations. My research shows no major camera manufacturer has incorporated this advantage into design and/or marketing.

In some regards I would hope these claims are true. That would indicate that CF as a format may have some overwhelming advantages over other flash memory formats. I would also hope that SNDK patent arsenal is adequate to gain cross liscences and royalties from other technology innovators.
