I think you should start by downloading the white papers
on DAMA and PCMA at VSAT's web site. You might also want
to make a detailed comparison with other VSAT companies
such as Linkabit (part of TTN) and Gilat. I would
also recommend accessing the technical literature on
DAMA and ATM by satellite, if you have access to the
INSPEC database.

I will defer to Valueman for a truly in depth analysis
of VSAT, but the 2 major selling points for me were:

a) All those GEOs that will go into orbit will create
a tremendous demand for efficient use of transponder circuits.

b) PCMA doubles the frequency available to its users,
and VSAT does not plan to license it to competitors.
Didn't hurt also that from a signal processing point
of view, PCMA is a really neat idea. PCMA will be
incorporated in Starwire (VSAT's DAMA product) next
September.
