Amazon said will eventually help it sell videos on-line. Amazon said it bought
the companies for a combination of cash and stock that will cause it to incur
$55 million in charges against future earnings; it expects to issue 540,000
shares of common stock as part of the purchase price for all three.

I need more help. AMZN's last 10K stated there is no guarantee there will ever be earnings. They will likely lose more money that predicted and their primary goal is market share.

If we do not know if there will ever be earnings, how do we charge $55 million against future earnings?

Finally, there was a conference call today. Were any investors invited to listen?
