Is it just me or all these so called experts on Wallstreet missing the point here. They talk about
brand recognition, and new markets and whatever.. The reality of the Internet and net
commerce in my opinion. is a "Instantaneous price comparison market" Meaning, as the net gets
bigger Amazon and others will have a hard time keeping their prices up. Competition will come
in and underbid the leaders to gain market share. And the scary aspect versus traditional retail is
that this can happen overnight being that barriers for competition is non-existent.

Yes, they are. But you have to remember that Wall St thinks strictly in the short term! Thus, the stock price of AMZN has no foundation in reality. This is just another mania fueled mainly by the buy rating it got from DLJ.
I am short AMZN right now, so maybe I am biased, but from a fundamental and technical point of view, AMZN is way overpriced.
I bet I will be able to cover by next monday, 05/04 *very close* to $80. That's my bet.

George,

Besides brand, there are the customer profiles and transaction profiles databases. AMZN ones are huge.

I suggest that you check a nice book, "NetGain", by John Hagel (McKinsey) amazon.com
