Arrow Hd, I did not know that Helmig was a retired IBMer. He did not even have a white shirt on when he appeared on CNBC. As a matter of fact it must have been casual day at Soundview. Finance Industry was never an area I had much contact with during my IBM days.
I assume the blunders you mentioned were not relative to his forecasts for IBM. (I hope).

This Techweb article would seem to support Helmig's comments about IBM PC sales and it seems that both IBM and Compaq are doing it without Intel.
