Compaq says product "flowing out fast" Tuesday, April 28, 1998 05:20 PM NEW ORLEANS, April 28 (Reuters) - Compaq Computer Corp's efforts to trim inventory by slashing prices is having the desired effect, Compaq Chief Executive Eckhard Pfeiffer said on Tuesday. "This quarter, product is flowing out fast," he said in a news conference at the CA-World 1998 technology conference. Pfeiffer said figures compiled by International Data Corp showed that Compaq's share of the U.S. market leaped 4.5 points to 17.3 percent in the first quarter alone. "(That's) the biggest jump of any PC manufacturer in the United States, bigger than Dell or HP or anybody," he said.
