Joel Ronning elected to board of Software Publishers Association Software Publishers Association Announces Results of Annual Board Election; Six Selected by SPA Membership from Eleven Outstanding Choices WASHINGTON, April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The Software Publishers Association (SPA) today announced the results of its annual Board of Directors election. Eleven candidates were nominated for six positions on the SPA Board, and those elected will serve a two-year term. The SPA Board consists of eleven elected members, the SPA president, the president of SPA Europe and two appointed board members. The election is by mail ballot and the winners are determined by equal votes cast by all full members of SPA, regardless of size, market or any other factor. Each full member company receives one vote. Re-elected to the board for another term were Kathy Hurley, vice president, The Learning Company SCHOOL, and Cheryl Vedoe, president & CEO, Tenth Planet Explorations. The other four elected, all of whom will be serving their first term on the SPA Board are: Ron Verni, president, Peachtree Software; Ted Johnson, executive vice president, Visio Corporation; Larry Gross, senior vice president, Cendant Software; and Joel Ronning, president & CEO, Digital River, Inc. The newly elected board members will join Graham Beachum, Jr., Axtive Software Corporation; John Laing, Wayfarer Communications; Rebecca Ranninger, Symantec Corporation; Roberta Katz, Netscape Communications Corporation; Steve Solazzo, IBM; Mauro Ballabeni, MicroBusiness Italiana; and Ken Wasch, president, SPA; on the new 1998-1999 SPA Board of Directors. The new SPA board will have its first meeting on May 15th and will select two additional board members. "We're delighted to have four new industry leaders join the board.
