Konjamori Venturing into DVD Market

Konjamori Computer, a computer software and multimedia content developer, is attempting to venture into the digital
versatile disc (DVD) market.

Last October, the venture company successfully developed an MPEG-2 encoder and decoder. Based on that research,
the company has developed a DVD design system.

It demonstrated the system at an international exhibition of broadcasting equipment recently held in the United States,
receiving warm response from buyers. The company has already exported $4 million worth of the DVD design system
since late last year. Buyers include Blossom and Five Tigers' Consulting in the U.S.
[NOTE: These companies sound like Chinese companies...]

To promote exports, Konjamori recently set up a marketing subsidiary in San Jose. At the same time, the company is
working on development of DVD software that can replace DVD hardware boards and application software for
encoding or decoding moving images in the MPEG-2 format.
