Sounds like the internet to me ... general growing pains all over. From what I hear it's happening with almost all the online brokerages to some extent or another. In Waterhouse's case it sounds like they may be falling particularly prey to their own success. Their services were too good which led to a large number of word of mouth referrals, and greater than expected volume which they simply couldn't handle.

A bit of time will tell how well they adapt I suppose. Keep in mind that it with a business of any size it is impossible to upgrade overnight. Yes, they should have anticipated the increased load, but the important question is how well they deal with it (especially in comparison to other brokers).

One quesiton I do have though DRL ... when was that half hour botched trade at? At least for the moment I don't need to be able to trade during peak times, so might be willing to wait it out until things settle a bit and we can find out who the best online brokers really are.
