mike, if we all are judged based on a poor stock pick, i could only hope that my worst performer was like utek ;-) try 90%+ losses on me worst ever :-(

i'll go even further. if you don't have some losers in your portfolio then you aren't maximizing the overall return of your portfolio b/c you aren't taking enough risk.

just like banks that issue lots of credit cards when they shouldn't. they get more overall profit by being less responsible than they should issuing credit.

clearly we all hate losing dough. you must risk some to win as big as possible and if you consistently risk then you will LOSE.

maybe bob has a big ego. so what? now if he said to put your whole nest egg in one basket to sooth his ego then i'd be concerned. he didn't. he doesn't. i don't expect him too.

good luck. may all our dork moves look as good as utek.

Personally I think it is a bit silly for someone who invested in UTEK to be saying it was either a good call or bad call or to say whether UTEK has failed to implement their strategy at this point. It is clear that near term the markets they depend on have been very weak and the company has positioned itself to profit greatly on new products if conditions are agreeable. I am happy holding a position and appreciate Bob Brinker making me aware of the company. Why on earth would I buy a risky tech stock with great potential that has not yet had a chance to be fully realized and care if the time frame for appreciation has been pushed out a bit until the fundamental story has had a chance to play out. Also why on earth would people like Jerry the caller or certain posters here seem more interested in trying to play a game of gotcha with Bob than simply hearing his advice and deciding which of it they want to act on. If these posters would look over this board they would see the only thing that angers people about Bob's individual stock picking is the fact that because of complainers about near term performance including those who lie to the call screener and upset the planned flow of topics on the show have now made Bob understandably not want to discuss individual stocks on the show. And as to the issue of whether Bob spins things after years of phenomenally accurate market calls I think most of the people here are quite qualified to decide on the veracity or spinning that Bob does without the help of a truth police pointing out what we need to know about him.
