ERICSSON SIGNS FOUR GSM CONTRACTS IN CHINA TOTALLING USD 756 MILLION

USD 314 MILLION IN SHANDONG

In Shandong, Ericsson has signed a USD 300 million
(SEK 2,310 million) contract with the Shandong Posts &
Telecommunications Administration (SDPTA) for expansions of the
province's GSM network.

This represents the largest telecom contract SDPTA has signed to
date as well as Ericsson's largest single GSM expansion in the
province. The project, scheduled to be implemented and put into
service by year-end, will enable SDPTA's customers to access the GSM
network more conveniently.

The expansion of the province's GSM network is 1.5 times larger than
all of the province's former expansions combined. Upon completion,
the capacity of the province's GSM network will more than double to
nearly 3 million users.

Apart from the expansion contract SDPTA has also agreed to buy
additional service solutions from Ericsson valued at USD 14 million
during a two-year period.

Ericsson has been the sole supplier of GSM networks to the Shandong
province since 1995.

USD 218 MILLION IN LIAONING

In Liaoning, Ericsson has signed a USD 218 million
(SEK 1,679 million) contract with the Liaoning Posts &
Telecommunications Administration (LPTA) for the third expansion of
the province's GSM network.

The project is the biggest one that LPTA has concluded to date,
which also exceeds the total value of all the previous GSM projects
in the province. Ericsson has been the sole supplier of GSM
equipment to Liaoning since 1995.

Scheduled for completion in May 1999, the project will expand the
total network capacity to more than 1.8 million subscribers. The
contract includes a large number of Ericsson's micro-cellular base
station, RBS 2301, that will be deployed to boost capacity in
hot-spot areas like city centers and for indoor applications.

USD 119 MILLION TO HEILONGJIANG

In Heilongjiang, Ericsson has signed a USD 119 million
(SEK 916 million) GSM contract with the Heilongjiang Posts &
Telecommunications Administration (HPTA) for the third expansion of
the network in Harbin, the province's capital city.

Delivery will commence at the end of May and implementation at the
end of August.

Ericsson has been the sole supplier of GSM networks to Heilongjiang
since 1995.

USD 105 MILLION IN JIANGSU

In Jiangsu province, Ericsson has signed a USD 105 million
(SEK 808 million) contract with the Jiangsu Posts and
Telecommunications Administration (JPTA) to provide a GSM 1800
network in the province. JPTA is the second operator in China to
introduce a large scale GSM 1800 network commercially.

The new Ericsson-supplied GSM 1800 network has dual band capability
and works together with the province's existing GSM 900 network
enabling seamless handovers between GSM 1800 and GSM 900. The new
network will cover most of the province and will pave the way for
further developments of Jiangsu's mobile communications.

JPTA's first commercial GSM 1800 network will be fully implemented
by the end of this year. The contract includes Mobile Switching
Centres, Base Station Controllers and GSM 1800 Base Stations.

China is Ericsson's second largest market. Ericsson in China has
more than 3,500 employees in 22 offices and 8 joint ventures
providing the full range of Ericsson telecommunications solutions
and products.

Buona sera, Yaacov

I'm the son of a first generation vegetable farmer, who kept his
"books" in his upper shirt pocket -----
(Our customers were mainly from an Italian community, in Providence,
Rhode Island).

(Therefore, my excuse for being ignorant of Ericsson's accounting
practices. ) :)

However, I think you will hold 200 shares of ERICY, worth (we hope)
$26.oo US.

BTW do you have any opinion on Tellabs? They are expanding into
Finland.

Best to you, and Ericsson,
