INDEX UPDATE
--------------------

The DOW was up over 50 in the morning and now is only up 5, which is obviously not a sign of strength.

My short-term technicals are all in the oversold or close to the oversold range, with several CLASS BUYS to obtain yesterday. Normally when the overall market is in CLASS BUY status as it was yesterday we should be seeing a nice pop for at least a few days. Also keep in mind that a very strong pop did occur yesterday at the open but failed miserably.

Another issue is that my short-term technicals are at their lowest levels since JAN. During the major part of this runup, whenever my short-term technicals just slightly dip below the overbought range the market will rally. For that whole period, I dont recall that the SPX or the DOW ever got below 50.

To help explain, I think I will start using numbers:
1) 0-20 = OVERSOLD
2) 21-79 = MIDRANGE
3) 80-100 = OVERBOUGHT.

Right now the overall market is in the 10-25 range. If these levels were reached during the runup, we would be up 100-150 points today, however we are now only treading water. Under normal conditions, not when the market is in full steam, we should be seeing a 75-100 point up day.

So I am also analyzing how the market reacts to my technicals for hints. This lack of strenght, in light of my short-term technicals being so low, is giving the hint of something ominous around the corner.

I hope such better explains my logic in analyzing the market.
