This is not a fair comparison. Compaq OEM's out all of its sub-1000 PC's. Revenue with NO employees.

Rudedog, I simply don't know what the fuss is all about. I had thought that Compaq had greater earnings per employee than Dell. But Sig (I believe) posted a reference that indicated that Dell's ratio now exceeded Compaq's. Perhaps it is due to a timing difference (i.e. using the most recent quarterly data rather than annual data). In any event I am glad that we agree that it's irrelevant to any meaningful discussions of these companies.

**WRONG Rudedog!** I checked it too. According to both companies' websites, here are the real figures for the last fiscal year for both companies. I invite you to look at www.dell.com and www.compaq.com

CPQ

32,565 employees
revenues of $24,584,000,000
revenues per employee of $754,920.93
net after tax of $1,855,000,000
net per employee of $56,963.00 (rounded up)

DELL

16,160 employees
revenues of $12,327,000,000
revs per employee of $762,809.41
net after tax per employee of $58,415.84

DELL's revenues revenues per employee were $7,888.48 higher.
DELL's net after tax per employee was $1,452.84 higher.
