Layoffs. I have a friend who used to work at 3 Com. The reason I say used to, because as of Friday afternoon he had on his voice mail that he was laid off. He said that everyone he worked with in sales were laid off too. Seems to be a large number. Checking on Yahoo message board, someone posted that he heard 15-20% of the sale force has been eliminated + 10-15% of overlapping R&D & marketing people from USRX. Could be the reason for the rise today as they might have mentioned it at the H & Q Tech Conference. Someone else said a 250000 shr. block was bought @34 on Yahoo also.
