GM, I can confirm the story that AMAT is cutting working hours and "force" its employee to use their vacation time on some Fridays. I think this is the first step to reduce cost while not lay-off people. If the industry downturn continues, a much tougher decision (layoff) has to be made to futher reduce the operation cost.

GM, I agree it's third-hand information from a drunk but it is troubling nonetheless. He did say that vacancy signs in the area were rising daily. Maybe he is seeing three of everything. <g>
