Software Publishing Corporation Holdings, Inc. Announces Agreement to Market PC Photography and Scanning Software for IXLA USA

FAIRFIELD, N.J., April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Software Publishing Corporation Holdings, Inc., (SPCH) (Nasdaq: SPCO), publishers of the Harvard and Serif lines of publishing, graphical and presentation software products, today announced it has agreed to provide turnkey direct marketing and distribution services for a leader in the emerging PC photography and scanning software market, IXLA USA, Inc., based in Connecticut, and IXLA Limited, based in Australia ("IXLA"). The agreement with SPCH will extend IXLA's sales presence throughout North America and Europe.

Under the agreement, package inserts and automated registration protocols in IXLA's bundled software (with more than fifty (50) third-party agreements) will direct all new users to SPCH's call centers in North America and Europe. As users register their software, SPCH representatives obtain the IXLA customer information for use in related direct marketing and telemarketing ventures. In addition, IXLA will distribute its Digital Camera Suite(TM) and compatible software worldwide through SPCH's online outlet store and other marketing media.

"By partnering with IXLA, SPCH will be able to offer high-quality digital imaging software products that complement the presentation and graphical software products it markets to its users," said Bob Gordon, Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Software Publishing Corporation Holdings, Inc. "In turn, IXLA will benefit from the use of a seamless telemarketing and direct mail solution based on the model that SPCH's Serif subsidiaries have successfully used to sell the Serif-line of software."

Software Publishing Corporation Holdings, Inc., occupies a dominant position in the direct mail and telemarketing segment of North America's desktop publishing market. Its subsidiary Serif (Europe) Limited has more than 60% of the desktop publishing market in the UK, a result of a strong direct-marketing campaign, augmented by retail channels, to sell the Serif-line of presentation and graphical software products.

"The partnership makes strategic sense because it allows SPCH to round out the graphics-type of offerings it currently sells to its own users, while providing an effective solution that meets IXLA's marketing and distribution requirements," said Jim Tsonas, Vice President of Business Development for Software Publishing Corporation Holdings, Inc. "SPCH's telemarketing, direct mail, online and distribution capabilities are able to assume the burden of many fundamental marketing operations for IXLA and its partnering OEMs, providing an effective alternative to traditional retail channels."
