That is simple.
Get a BX440, it can run 350 and 400 Intel, PC100 SDRAM.
My reading indicates that BX440 can use "two" processor chips.
Maybe David can tell us, because Dell could not.
But with two 400 chips..buy one now and buy second later when
the price drops.
Also I plan to wait until windows 98 is out since "talk radio"
indicates problems with USB,etc.
But david is the expert here !

Ratan,

I am now in the market for a new computer. Based on your research, what did you decide was the best montherboard to get

The best right now is the 440BX. In the works is the 450NX. Also available are the the 440HX and TX for Socket 7 and 440EX for Pentium II Celeron(inexpensive version of 440LX)

Which one to get depends on your needs and resources...as always is the case, and of course will you be building it yourself or buying from retail locations.

I would go with 440BX and maybe the 266MHZ PII. You can run at 66MHZ or 75MHZ with no trouble. When your needs and funds improve and INTEL drops prices than the 333MHZ could be next. The 350 and 400 are certainly the best but priced high for most peoples needs...but you make the decision.
