GARDNER, Mass., April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Precision Optics Corporation, Inc. (Nasdaq: POCI) announced today the availability of a series of prototype narrow bandwidth (under 1-nanometer) optical filters for use in Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexer (DWDM) optical communications systems.
DWDM-Class narrowband filters of this type may be used in DWDM devices consisting of up to approximately 40 channels. The Company is currently supporting product evaluation tests of these filters with several potential customers.
This achievement represents the culmination of concentrated research and development efforts conducted over the past year, and one more significant step toward a major presence in the optical communications marketplace. I posted the release for you. This product introduction addresses one of my concerns, namely that POCI would not have the capability of going beyond 2, 4, or 8 channel devices. I think the market for these Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexers will be more profitable, since there should be less competition. It also gives me some additional confidence in their technology.
