Sam- yes they did, it was Upland Resources before and now it is called World Wide Wireless Inc.

It looks like it could go much higher from here, if you check out the technology they are working on for telephones.
The handset itself will act as a transceiver or relay, reducing the reliance on repeater transmission towers.

This is in addition to the wireless downloads for large data-files on the internet.
