K2 Design, Inc. to Create New Web Site for 'Wonder Drug' Bayer(R) Aspirin

PR Newswire, Wednesday, April 29, 1998 at 14:24

NEW YORK, April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- K2 Design, Inc. (NASDAQ:KTWO, KTWOW)
is pleased to announce that it has been selected by Bayer Aspirin to create
its new interactive Web site. Bayer Aspirin is marketed by Bayer Consumer
Care, a division of Bayer Corporation. New York-based K2 Design will assume
responsibility for Bayer Aspirin's interactive strategic planning process, as
well as its on-line communications and technical strategies.
The major undertaking for K2 is the design, creation and maintenance of a
Web site devoted to the company's Bayer Aspirin brand. This Web site will be
targeted to consumers and will continue to promote and reinforce the brand as
an effective choice among pain relievers. In addition, the site is intended
to educate consumers on the benefits of Bayer as a preventative medication for
both recurrent heart attack and stroke. K2 will increase the modem image of
the brand through the development of a heavily branded site that is: rich in
content and visually exciting.
"K2 has done extensive work in setting up and overseeing our interactive
and Internet services. We will re-emphasize that Bayer Aspirin continues to
be one of the most reliable pain relievers on the market. One of the ways
this will be achieved is through using K2's creative department to
develop a solid presence on the Internet for our brand," said Mike Smith,
Assistant Brand Manager of Bayer Aspirin. The Web site is located at
bayeraspirin.com or wonderdrug.com
"Bayer Corporation has annual sales of over $9 billion and businesses in
health care and life sciences, chemicals and imaging technologies. Their
Bayer Aspirin line of products is a well-known and respected brand that is in
high demand," said K2's General Manager Rick Robinson. "We are extremely
excited about our opportunity to extend the Bayer Aspirin brand, one of the
most important products in the consumer marketplace, onto the Net," he added.

Sections of this full-color interactive Web site include the following:
-- How to best deal with specific types of pain (i.e., headache,
arthritis)
-- Aspirin usage for the prevention of recurrent heart attack and stroke
-- A link to the American Heart Association Web site
-- Myths and facts about aspirin
-- Ongoing research for aspirin
-- Health practitioner's information on aspirin
-- A link to the Bayer U.S. Web site, where you can learn about the
company's products, environmental concerns, job opportunities,
financial information and more

K2's design for the Bayer Aspirin Web site contains an extensive amount of
information on all facets of the company's signature brand. There is detailed
information on each member of the Bayer Aspirin family, including package
photos, usage instructions, product ingredients, warnings and other useful
information in an appealing, easy-to-read format.
Bayer Aspirin is the signature product of Bayer Corporation, a division of
the worldwide Bayer Group, a $32 billion chemical and pharmaceutical company
based in Leverkusen, Germany. Aspirin, synthesized nearly 100 years ago by
Bayer and named for its components 'acetyl' and 'spirea,' has been used since
its inception to treat ailments such as headaches, fever and body aches and
was the first major drug to be marketed in a convenient tablet. In recent
years, aspirin sales have risen due to the growing amount of medical evidence
linking regular aspirin use to decreases in recurrent heart attack and stroke.
From 1995-2000, Bayer, headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, is investing
$9 billion in capital expenditures and research and development, and 1998
expenditures in these areas are expected to total $1.8 billion
K2 Design, Inc. is a publicly traded company and the only full service
interactive agency specializing in brand building. The firm, known for its
strengths in Internet-based brand-building, is one of the first interactive
agencies to be accepted into the American Association of Advertising Agencies
(AAAA). K2 combines its award-winning strategic, creative and marketing
talent with top-notch technological expertise, client service and an
experienced media strategy team to provide clients with integrated brand
communication for both traditional and new media platforms. K2 has provided a
