GG,

Fortune has an interesting little piece on the looming battle between Lucent and Cisco. pathfinder.com

The article makes it sound as though it is fairly trivial for Lucent to develop and/or acquire the data network building skills that will enable it to offer a robust solution with telephony-network type reliability and the ability to accomplish telephony over IP without sacrificing enhanced services like callerID, 800-numbers, etc.

What is your take on this? And what is the role of ATM, frame relay, etc. in the path toward the all optical router, if that is where we are going?

Obeisences, etc.,
Sam Citron
