Awre is down equally as bad today. I doubt they are both "no shows." I am waiting till after next week's "interop World" before I make any decisions about AWRE or WSTL.

I have for a long time expected that Westells reliance on CAP modulation would eventually hurt them. The news about loss of expected business from GTE and other carriers and the current share price which probably is well deserved show that this expectation was correct. Unfortunately I did not sell my complete position when I still could get a decent price for it.

A few weeks ago I figured out that Orckit was the better investment. So far I have only done the buying Orckit part. I got in below $18 and now I am waiting for better prices to complete the transition with selling Westell.

If you can afford to loose your current investment I think it does not make too much sense to sell at the current depressed level. Westell can easily go up 20% to 40% in one day if they have good news or even without news.

Westell has done quite a bit of important development work. Once they complete this work by integrating DMT modulation they probably have a much better chance to actually sell their stuff.

Par - This is not a recommendation but keep in mind the only reason OCTF got the GTE contract is that they are the only ones that can offer ADSL over Frame Relay. Someone correct me if I wrong. Watch the ECI numbers tomorrow. This market is on shakey ground IMHO. If the numbers are in line then ok, but if not, it will correct. Something I also keep in mind is LU doing their own ADSL. Re: Read the AMTX thread for a few weeks after everyone jumped on the ADSL lite announcements. FWIW I started making positions today w/ penny stocks as a hedge for a possible continued upswing to 10,000 Dow. One filled, one didn't. FWIW Im looking to buy WSTL if it corrects further.

Regards,

Dug

P.S.
I really like the new Dslam but adsl lite won't be in deployment untill 99.

par-

as i said in a previous post, there are lots of things to put your money in now that will do well. WSTLs timing is a big unknown. so, if you feel comfortable with the loss, take it and move on. sure, you may miss a run up int he stock, but you will hopefully make up your losses and more in something else. but, if you can afford to hold, thats what i would do.

good luck to all,
trey
