007 -- Good question. I wish I could answer it! All that I can do is notice a pattern; explaining it is beyond my expertise.

Your explanation seems as good as any. I would modify it a little, however. In view of the fact that some of the companies that have been doing well recently are relatively new (and often, relatively unprofitable), I would doubt that institutions are "getting back into" them; that is, they probably never were into them very much in the first place. More likely, perhaps, is that institutions may be turning to promising areas of the oil patch they overlooked before.

But, then again, maybe it is all just a fluke...
