another conversation filling rumor is that INTC has plans to buy SGI. and though this chatter is the most reasonable of all the wild speculation that's circulating IMO, i suspect that what really does go down in the next 18 months will be far stranger than anyone can speculate. with the changes that are occuring in SGI's markets that i am familiar with, my bet is that there will be opportunities for totally new models of business to be implimented sucessfully, if those making the decisions are innovative and bold.

Michael, your HP buyout rationale rings clear. Especially when you consider HP has absorbed the likes of Apollo Computer (workstations) and Convex Corp. (super-
computers) in the last ten years. Put your way, the HP/SGI merger makes sense. However, imo Mr. Belluzzo has much more house cleaning to do before this tale is told...
