I work in the operating room every day and avoid the hetastarch products because of dilutional coagulopathy risk and anaphylaxis risk ( a doctor I know was sued by a patients family after she developed anaphylactic shock from hetastarch )we use salt water based IV solutions preferentially and blood products when indicated. Getting our hospital to stock a new hetastarch product at twice the cost will be like pulling teeth or herding cats. They are not going to sit still for it not with the cost pressures they face from Medicare and insurance companies. This product will not fly off the shelves I can promise you that. Doug
