<A> INTELECT COMMUNICATIONS ANNOUNCES HIGH QUALITY DSL INTERNET APPLICATIONS FOR its LANscape(TM) Videoconferencing Systems Internet Service Provider DigitalSelect Chooses LANs High Performance Digital Internet and Multimedia Services

RICHARDSON, Texas, May 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Intelect Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: ICOM) ("INTELECT") announced today that its Intelect Visual Communications ("IVC") business unit has established a reseller partnership with DigitalSelect (www.digitalselect.net) to provide internet subscribers with high performance video at speeds ranging from 256 kpbs to 1.54 mpbs using DSL access technology. Intelect's LANscape is a digital, IP-based network solution for desktop and conference room applications.

DigitalSelect is an internet service provider in the Washington D.C. area offering high bandwidth connectivity over copper telephone lines.

"With DSL technology, IVC and DigitalSelect can provide a cost-effective alternative to traditional WAN videoconferencing approaches," said Pete Ianace, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Intelect Communications.

"LANscape over DSL provides guaranteed high-quality, full motion,
multipoint videoconferencing at much lower cost than traditional H.320 videoconferencing offerings. With DSL bandwidth and accessibility potentials, IVC's LANscape becomes a business quality internet virtual office product," he added. "We are impressed with the flexibility and quality of IVC's LANscape product. Because it is completely scalable, it can adapt to the bandwidth that is provided." Said Peter W. Arey, Vice President for DigitalSelect. "And our services, which utilize high-speed copper based technology, can provide Internet connectivity to businesses at savings of up to 30%. Through a link to the DigitalSelect network, our subscribers can videoconference over a virtual private network, protect their data network and provide cost- effective telecommuting, distance learning and tele-medical applications."

IVC's LANscape uses Wavelet compression to provide television-quality video on the desktop at up to 30 frames per second. Wavelet technology is the de-facto standard in the medical imaging and digital video editing applications. LANscape's support of IP Multicast provides an effective means for multipoint conferencing without an expensive MCU, as well as efficient distribution of video feeds across a network enterprise. LANscape also provides multiple, individually adjustable video windows with VCR record and playback controls. Taken together, DigitalSelect's DSL network technology feature-rich LANscape 2.1 offers a complete video network solution.

PS I'll be MORE comfortable with ICOM after earnings and the CC next week. They have stated they should hit their revenue target (of twice last year's $38M) w/o Asia. So if they get Asia back on track for the 2nd half, and can come in with the suggested ~$100M for 98 (~$80MM non-Asia and $20MM Asia - which is an AWFUL LOT of SonetLynx), they will be doing very well IMO.
