It depends on the type of book. As you know, AMZN does include many professionally-written reviews as well as reviews written by readers. Information from the covers is also included. This is also true for BKS, although they don't have as many reviews written by readers. BKS does have an attractive feature in which they are starting chat groups about books, authors or ideas. I wrote to AMZN and suggested it, and they sort of said they are considering it or working on it or something like that. What is your thesis--that online booksales will flop because customers cannot put their hands on the merchandise? This seems to matter a lot to some who have also pointed out this weakness in the on-line model. There are other advantages which, imho, outweigh this problem. When I buy a book, they suggest other books on closely-related topics, or ones that have been also purchased by people who bought what I am about to buy. About one-third of the time, I buy additional books which I didnt even plan to do. I also tend to buy clearance sale books from B Dalton. Best Regards, Tom D
