Hard for me to believe the Russians would have the money to buy on the open market.
One this for sure is that someone has been buying and/or CB selling has dried up. Just not exactly sure who.

enigma, The newsletter writer did not say who was the seller to the Bank of Russia, however he did say it was a startling announcement. Therefore it is now public knowledge. May be one of the internet sleuths on this thread can find the announcement and post the seller if it was named. Help Alex.

Regardless of who the seller was, the important point is we have confirmation of a central bank purchase. There is no doubt in my mind that other central banks are accumulating gold on the sly. The author of the newsletter also stated without being specific that central banks in Western Europe are starting to pile into the gold market.
