Sheila, no re: Ben, could his sale account for the drop today in the stock price? SR

He registered at $7.95/share. So Goldman (or whoever it was) will buy the shares at $7.95/share.

They didn't have to sell it today. And that's not enough volume to affect the price. Less than 10% of any day's volume.

JMHO.

Q: How many current devices will be able to use Vapor!?

A: As best as can be figured, NONE of them. You see, Vapor! has a latency period inherent in all disc drives. This latency is 1/2 a second, according to Iomega. The write speed of Vapor! is also considerably slower than Flash. Also, the protocols and drivers necessary to make Vapor! work properly with an OS are not installed in ANY devices. Since a lot of these devices use hard-wired ROM as an OS, and therefore cannot be updated, they may NEVER be able to use Vapor!. So one must wait for SOMEONE to come along and include the drivers in SOMETHING. This means there is potentially NO INSTALLED MARKET for Vapor!

The only way I can see Vapor! working with present-day devices is if the external Vapor! drive has an on-board Flash cache of at least a couple of MB that adheres to the Flash Standard. One would have to then push a button or two on the Vapor! drive to tell it to write to disc. Of course, this means extra expense, and of course a potential for a $$$ loss on every drive sold. But I guess Iomaniacs like it that way. They don't care if Iomega makes any money or not. Just as long as they push drives out the door.
